CIC Picnic 2004

The weather was glorious for the 2004 CIC annual company picnic on August 29, giving us a perfect day to enjoy the outdoors and the Luau theme. CICer's and their families had their choice of activities including swimming, basketball, sunbathing, bubble blowing and of course eating, Grass skirts, coconut bra's and tropical print clothing was the preferred attire of the day.

A splendid smorgasbord was provided by John Lisai of Lisai's Market, including the rare and hard-to-find watermelon with seeds, shrimp cocktail, steak, barbeque chicken, baked potatoes, garden salad, pasta salad, whoopee pies, roasted corn on the cob and much more.

The athletic events were kicked off with a basketball shoot off won by Brad Palmer and Jacob Grey. The second round of competition featured Senior and Junior division golfers with Dave Grey getting his ball closest to the pin among the adults, and Jacob Grey winning it for the kids. The final contest was the watermelon seed spitting contest with Bob Singleton winning the senior spit-off and Matthew Marchica winning the kids prize.

The main event was of course the softball game. Battled under the hot sun for four long innings until the victor was decided. Scott Heller's intrepid "Heller's Hellions" team defeated Bob Singleton's "Singleton Sluggers" team by a narrow margin of 4 to 2, winning the coveted crystal CIC Softball Trophy and a year's worth of bragging rights.

Matt Reimann and family were the big winners in the raffle, taking home a new DVD Player/Home Theatre System. Jackie Gray and Bob Sofield were also big winners, each receiving a day off. Prizes were given out throughout the day to children and adults alike. Toward the end of the day, the children enjoyed swinging at a piñata until finally breaking it open to retrieve the goodies inside. All those attending left with armfuls of favors, prizes, food and a smile.

None of this would have been possible without our friends at EIKI. A big round of applause to Mike from EIKI and the picnic committee, who worked so hard to coordinate food, entertainment, games and prizes. Thank you Anne, Aaron, Nathan, Jackie and Katy for such a great job.

That's it for another season. See you all back at the Saxton's River Rec next year for what will be our 8th annual CIC picnic.

On October 31st Team CIC members gathered to celebrate the "spirit" of Halloween with a luncheon and costume contest. The costumes represented a wide range of creative ideas from aliens and rock stars to witches and wenches. Our Purchasing and Marketing departments were in an unofficial "Shortest Skirt" Contest with Deb dressed as a 60's go-go dancer and Karen dressed as a majorette.

There were also some very talented cooks out there who generously donated to our Halloween Luncheon. Some favorites included Pat's Chicken Parmesan, Dave's Spicy Potatoes, Heather's Spooky Devilled Eggs, Deb's Baked Ziti, Barb's Rice Pilaf and Shelley's ever-popular Tequila-Lime Chicken.

Several students from the Saxton's River Elementary School stopped by to thank CIC for donating 100 batteries to light their evening Halloween parade and to do a little Trick-Or-Treating. Team CIC was only too glad to hand out some candy and pose for pictures. The results of the Costume Contest were announced at the Open Mic on November 5th. First Place winners received $50 CIC bucks, Second Place $25 and Third Place $10.

CIC Holiday Party Lights Up The Night

The stars were out Saturday January 20th for the CIC Holiday and 25th Anniversary party at the Putney Inn. The theme for the evening was "Silver Screen/Silver Anniversary", and even included some surprise celebrity guests.

Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe graciously agreed to have their pictures taken with everyone. Dancing went on long into the night with the help of the DJ/partymaster Gary Roundy. The dazzling light show and lively tunes were just what we needed to "Let The Dogs Out"!

Everyone enjoyed the moving and amusing tribute to CIC's 25 years. Longtine CIC bookeeper, Ethel Cohen's stories were particularly appreciated. It was also a thrill to receive the lovely, "Vermont" book and see CIC pictured inside.

Several gift certificates to local businesses were given to lucky winners with the grand prize, a digital camera, going to Debra Quinn. Deb also won a day off with pay, as did Dave Grey.

Kudos to the Putney Inn for the great food and wonderful service. A big thanks also to the Party Committee - Deb, Patty O, Pat, Bob, Katy and Shelley. Speaking of the Party Committee...

The following people have graciously volunteered to be on next year's committee: Mavis Lizotte, Patty O' and Sabrina Gibbs.

In the event these people cannot fulfill their duties as Party Committee Members, the following have volunteered to be backups: Maryann Brophy, Linda Lindblad, Steve Hart, and Dave Grey. Thanks and see you next year!.
